Heeng(Asafoetida)

Asafoetida is used as a flavoring agent and forms a constituent of many spice mixtures. It is used to flavor, curries, meatballs, dal and pickles. The whole plant is used as a fresh vegetable. The herb is also used as an antidote of opium.Asafoetida is a plant. It has a bad smell and tastes bitter.Asafoetida is used for breathing problems including ongoing bronchitis, H1N1 “swine” flu, and asthma. It is also used for digestion problems including intestinal gas,upset stomach,irritable bowel syndrome, and irritable colon.
