COMMON YELLOW NAIL DYE PLANT (STROBILANTHES CILIATUS)
Strobilanthes ciliatus Nees (Bremek.) Known as “Sahachara” is widely used today in indigenous Indian systems of medicine has been shown to possess a range of folk and proven biological activities such as antiinflammatory, analgesic, anticancer, antimicrobial, antidiabetic and hepatoprotective.
The anti-inflammatory activity ofethanolic extract of Strobilanthes ciliatus aerial parts was studied using carrageenan induced paw oedema model in wistarrats. The test extract (200, 400 and 800 mg/kg,p.o) showed significant anti-inflammatory activity when compared to standard drug diclofenac and vehicle control.
